I don't think Kirkey makes a seat bracket for their seats that'll just bolt onto the existing studs in the 4th gen's floorboard. Could be wrong on that but I think I'm right. Just something for you to think about. You can still use Kirkeys you'll just have to get some custom brackets fabbed or modify the seat rails from the stock seats.

Are you really gonna try to make this a really light car or just lighten it a little? There's easier things to take out than replacing the seats if you're wanting it to be a comfortable street car still.

Not trying to change your mind just trying to give you a different perspective on it

Here's a list of what weight reduction mods I've done / am doing. I doubt you'll wanna take it this far but it should give you an idea of what all CAN be removed.

I'll list everything my car will be going without or what I'm using to lighten the car

Things deleted:
ABS
Cruise control
EGR / Air pump
No front sway bar
Power brake booster - going with manual brakes
Power steering pump, lines and rack - going with manual rack
Air conditioning
Entire HVAC box (heater core / blend doors )
All the tubing behind the dash for heat / ac
Passenger airbag ( eventually no drivers )
Rear seats / seat belts
Spare tire / jack
Rear speakers
Windshield wiper fluid resevoir / pump
Carpet backing
Firewall backing / rubber mat
Excess wires ( Taken out at least 10 lbs )
About 5 lbs removed for my vertical mount radiator
Heavy stock k member- Have a tubular k and a arms

Things I still am going to do:
Front bumper support
Evap box in the trunk
It'll have Kirkey seats
Big & little Prostars

That's all I can think of for now. But that should give you an idea of how far you can go. And there's still a ton left you can do. HOWEVER, I'm building a pretty much all out track car and don't really care about comfort on the street. But you can still do a lot for a street / strip car. Hope this helped. Let me know if you have any questions

You can get Kirkey brackets here: http://www.racecraft.com/index.php?main ... Path=77_80

I modified mine to raise them up a bit cause you feel like your sitting on the floor. Just a heads up Kirkeys are gonna need a back brace attached to a roll bar cross member. NHRA rulebook says if you have a roll bar and aftermarket seats you have to have a 5pt harness. Even if you don't take the car to the track (which I doubt, given you plans!) these items are in the rules for your safety, just something to think about!

If any one has a dark charcoal leather back seat they wanna sell, email brettmclemore@gmail.com. I'll look at any front seats also but I'm really interested in the back one.

I dunno maybe it wasn't 10 lbs. I guess the bag that i had it in had the airbag modules in it too. But a whole lot of it was wires.

since its wrecked, and i gotta replace the front clip, i was thinking and i really want a 98-02 front clip. I'd keep it white with the stripes and i swear maybe one day she'll even have my dream parts in her: T-56 Tranzilla and LS2 6.0 stroker. Hey i can dream can't i ? but really, how hard would that conversion be, on everyones proffesional opinon ?

What he said ^ LT1 cars looks better IMO. I might be biased but the LT cars looked a lot less like catfish :yup:

And it'd be possible to put whatever you want in there. Just time and lots of money is all any build takes

yea but i really wanna do that front clip swap because it needs to be done anway, i know that you need the clip, and your have to custom make the light brackets but does anyone know if you need the ls1 hood or can i stick with my hood im gonna get fixed ? i'd keep the 30th editon package, take off the z28 badges and maybe after a few years of hard work, racing and saving, i could do the ls2 stroker/tranzilla set up, man that'd be bad ass. 8-)
